Welcome!
My name is Hannah Miciche, and I am the President of the Epsilon Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi here at the University of Delaware. Alpha Phi currently has 174 thriving collegiate chapters and more than 130 alumnae communities across the U.S. and Canada. Locally, we proudly represent one of twelve chapters within the Panhellenic Community on our campus.
Within Alpha Phi, our members embody leadership in the greater community and embrace our core values of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Loyalty, and Character Development. Sisterhood, in particular, serves as a foundational pillar, which fosters a strong sense of unity and support within our chapter. Our motto, "Union hand in hand," drives us as we celebrate each other's accomplishments. Additionally, our philanthropic endeavors focus on supporting The Alpha Phi Foundation and raising awareness for Women's Heart Health- the leading cause of death for women in the United States.
My personal connection to Alpha Phi's philanthropy truly resonates with me due to my grandfather's battle with heart disease. Amplifying the conversation around heart health, and being able to educate the larger community on early detection and prevention is one of the many rewarding opportunities I have had during my time in Alpha Phi. I instantly felt how much these women had a shared commitment to heart health advocacy when I was going through Primary Recruitment in 2023.
Living at 158 South College Avenue (or the “Phouse”, as we know it and love it), has been the experience of a lifetime. Sharing a home with 47 sisters has been a change that has truly deepened my connections and friendships. It is not everyday that you are able to say you shared a room with your big, or meet your best friends because they live under you, but I am sure glad that I am able to. Chelsea, our Chef, who made the Phouse feel like a home away from home for me, adds to the warmth of our sisterhood with her incredible dinners, making each meal feel like a family gathering.
I am especially proud to announce the Sara Harty Memorial Scholarship, created in loving memory of a sister, (Sara Harty MC’23), whose kindness, personality, and heart inspired our chapter. This scholarship is officially available on the Alpha Phi Foundation Website. Through this scholarship, her legacy will live on in future members who embody this spirit in Alpha Phi.
We are honored to have been recognized by the University of Delaware’s Fraternity and Sorority Leadership and Learning with 2 distinguished awards: The Impact Award, celebrating our chapter’s work with Mental Health Resources following the loss of Sara, and Advisor of the Year, honoring the guidance and support from our amazing Chapter Advisor, Tori Sanders. Tori and I followed the same leadership transition, moving from the Financial/Housing role to President. There is no one else I would rather receive guidance from! These achievements are a reflection of the passion and purpose that define Epsilon Nu.
As I think back to choosing a college, everyone would always ask me “Why Delaware?”, and I never had a straight answer. I toured the University of Delaware one random weekend in high school, and I left that day knowing I had to be there. I saw the Phouse for the first time on that same day, and remember telling my parents that I “liked that one”. I had no idea that the best was to come from that house on South College Ave. The question “Why Delaware?” now turns into how Alpha Phi and this community has given me a million answers to this same question, and for that I am forever grateful.
On behalf of the Epsilon Nu Chapter, I extend heartfelt thanks for your interest in learning more about Alpha Phi, and our sisterhood at the University of Delaware. I am so excited to continue to share our successes and updates with our community. Your support means the world to us as we continue to make our mark on campus and beyond.
From my heart to yours,
Hannah Miciche
Epsilon Nu Chapter President
